ESPN's morning-show coverage:

Yesterday = Ever the chessmaster, La Russa is his generation's greatest manager.

Today = La Russa overmanages.

Tomorrow = La Russa is pursued by Libyan rebels.

You forgot the part where Skip Bayless blames it all on President Barack James.

Ok, if nobody else is going to say it, I'll say it.

That Albert Pujols guy is pretty good.

Remember in the beginning and middle of the season, people were saying Pujols was not going to get that $300 million dollar due to being wash up or injured or both. Yeah, those people probably shouldn't be involved in anything remotely done with baseball. They probably shouldn't even park cars at the stadium. Also, the dust up about not talking to reporters after Game 2 is pretty much null and void. Sorry yahoo sports and your snark reporting, but people will remember the 3 home runs instead another personal article disguised as "journalism".

I don't think a lot were saying he couldn't get that much somewhere but that he shouldn't, especially for the length of a deal he wanted.

Between a godawful MNF game and another godawful Raw, I'm SO happy the World Series is here to save me.

So if the Rangers win the series, Mike Napoli is well on his way to a World Series MVP trophy. Meanwhile, I have to watch his replacement, Jeff Mathis, hit .189 for the next several years, as the corpse of Vernon Wells decomposes in the dugout. I will now dunk my head in a vat of rancid orange juice.

2:10 PM - first call to WFAN suggesting World Series game last night was fixed.

I wonder if they will give the MVP to Albert, win or lose

Yeah, all I could think last night as the entire population of Arlington chanted "NA! PO! LI!" was, "I hope It's False doesn't have any sharp objects nearby."

If someone pays Albert Pujols $300 million they should probably be banned from ever even watching baseball again.

Beat me to it. He clearly doesn't deserve $300 million in his next deal. I don't care if he goes 5-5 with 5 grand slams in his next game. No player, especially at his age, is worth that much money. Comparitavely, a-rod is a bargain at that price. And we all see how that's working out. When 13 got his money, he was a legitimate perennial five-tool player. Now due to age and injury, he's simply "good". Good ain't worth $250 million. And unless Albert has a Lazarus Pit, he will go down the same road eventually. If he loves the Cards as much as he claims to, he would bite the bullet and settle for, oh I don't know, let's say $150 million. That's generous and doesn't cripple the organization.

The phones in Texas are so tricky, even a managerial genius like LaRussa couldn't figure them out.

Albert Pujols will be playing for the Cardinals next season, but it's possible he may be going by the name David Freese.

But in all seriousness: Wow. What an amazing experience it was to watch that game. I, a St Louis native and huge Cardinals fan, turned it off after the Rangers scored three in the 7th, but talked myself into turning it back on just in time to see Allen Craig homer and pull it back to a two-run game. After that, it was one holy-shit-you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me moment after another.

I said at the time and say now, walking Pujols in the 10th was a mistake for Texas. Berkman has been a MUCH hotter hitter in this World Series.

But hey, at least we can all forget about the crappy defense in the first five innings.

The term "instant classic" shouldn't be thrown around lightly. But if that isn't an instant classic, I don't know what is.

That was one of the greatest games I've ever seen, in any sport. Wow. Just incredible.

Great line from someone on Twitter....the only crazy thing that was missing was Nolan Ryan coming out of the stands to pitch, and Tony sending up Mark McGwire to pinch-hit against him.

Heh, yeah I turned it off a few times myself. This is easily a top 5 postseason, especially if you count day 162.

Probably the best Series game (if not the best baseball game) since game 6 in 1986. Which in turn was the best since game 6 of 1975. What IS it about game 6s?

There will be no one over the next five years that makes the Cardinals as much money merchandise and ticket-wise than Albert Pujols. Pay him what he wants, make your kajillion dollars and shut up.

Great and exciting game. My question to Cards fans - what the heck was that with ripping off Freese's jersey after the game winning home run? When it happenedI though tI was seeing things. Is that a Cards thing or what? it was very very strange. And seeing as those jersey are high quality made, it had to hurt Freese as they were ripping it off his body.

Life is hilariously cruel.

No joke... I saw a long piece of white cloth and instantly thought they gave him the biggest wedgie ever.

But wow, what a game. I hope they keep all sharp objects and noose-making materials away from Nolan Ryan.

I stuck with it until the top of the 10th when the Cards went down by two again. Figured no way could they come back yet again from that. Luckily I convinced myself to turn it back on just in time for the first batter in the bottom of the inning so I didn't miss the good stuff.

Just an unreal game. Hope they can keep that energy going into tonight. I never, ever, ever like pitching a starter on short rest, seen it blow up too many times so I almost hope they don't throw Carpenter to start, but we'll see.

Section 127, Row 8, Seat 21, next to the Cardinals bullpen.

It was just a blur - both times they tied it, but especially the home run to center. The stands turned into a rave, everyone jumping up and down, the girls in red wigs two rows down crying - CRYING - and that was just Freese's hit in the bottom of the ninth.

Everyone was floating walking out of the ballpark, and the only thing that makes me happier than the memories is that I get to go again tonight. My god.

I concur, I have nothing bad to say about Thome and his time here...he got injured, had the best Phils rookie since Rolen take his spot and became a major question mark. I`m glad Thome's going somewhere he wants to be...
