Common factor is all of Miami's series thus far: the refs take over in game 1 and swing all the momentum their way. It's happened with both the Knicks and Pacers and I won't be shocked if it happens again. (POST GAME 1 EDIT: I hate it when I'm right.)

San Antonio in 6
Miami in 5

I hate Miami so much.

Spurs in 5
Heat in 7

Come the finals, the Spurs show the Heat how a real team with chemistry and a bench looks like and drops them in 5 after the refs gift wrap a win for the Heat so as to avoid the embarrassment of being swept.

Life is hilariously cruel.

I have never seen as many ticky-tack technical foul calls in my life (and that's a long time). When even the announcers are calling the referees on over-reaction, you know something is wrong.

Spurs in 6
Heat in 6 (though I hope I am wrong)

What a gutsy performance from Rondo! And it's marred by the non-call near the end of OT where he gets mugged across the face for no whistle. It's made that much more galling by Wade driving in SECONDS LATER, flailing his arms, and getting a foul (and one, of course) to seal it. You CANNOT convince me these Miami games aren't rigged! It CANNOT be a coincidence that the Miami Heat games are the only ones with such consistently poor officiating. It's a joke! And it kills me to say that, because I HATE the Celtics!

On the other end of the spectrum, I demand more Spurs/Thunder! This series has been utterly amazing! OKC is such a juggernaut and it's mind-boggling that their run is going to end at the hands of an EVEN BIGGER juggernaut!

I will not be baited into commenting on any refereeing discussion about the Celtics/Heat. Nope.

It's mind-blowing that there is a professional sport that is as constantly hinted at being fixed as much as the NBA is, and absolutely nothing gets done about it. There are no changes, no accountability, nothing. It just continues down the same obvious path every year. This is the main reason why I gave up being a regular fan and now only consider myself "casual", by the loosest definition of the word. The NBA refs are talked about almost as much as the players in what is neither the most subjective, nor the fastest-paced sport. Baseball umps take a lot of shit because they tend to make the game more about them than the actual players, and deservedly so. Some baseball umps are atrocious at worst and inconsistent at best. But I have never heard a large portion of the fan base say that MLB is fixed. The saddest part is that most fans aren't completely joking when they say the NBA is fixed. It's an understanding, an acceptance. And no one is held responsible.

It’s so hard for me to sit back here in this studio, looking at a guy out here, hollering my name! When last year I spent more money, on spilled liquor, in bars from one side of this world to the other, than you made! You’re talking to the Rolex wearin, diamond ring wearin, kiss stealin, WOOOO wheelin dealin, limousine ridin, jet flyin son of a gun. And I'm having a hard time holding these alligators down!

RIP to a hell of a winning streak. Credit to OKC for taking care of business tonight. I'm enjoying the HELL out of this series, even if tonight didn't feature the Spurs at their best.

You know, when the officiating goes fully in one direction, it can be dismissed as sour grapes. But when the refereeing goes out of its way to affect BOTH teams, then someone in the league needs to acknowledge that there's a problem.

Having a LeBron flop called in the final seconds of regulation is just awful. Having to watch overtime without Pierce and LeBron is just a ripoff.

Also, I sympathize with Rondo wanting to call out the Heat on relying on referee whistles...but there's a time and place to do that and it is NOT during halftime!

After Game 5, I still love Rondo. I can't decide whether Rondo or Garnett gives the best interview, though.

Wowzers! From winning 20 in a row, to losing 4 straight and getting bumped off! Happy trails, Spurs!

Whoever draws OKC, whether it be Boston or Miami, are going to be in a lot of trouble. Durant is just unworldly right now.

I'm happy as an NBA fan. Love watching Durant and OKC. It is also fun to watch a team grow up over the years.

Although sad as a Sonics fan as well as a little sad to see a team mostly filled up with guys around my age go down to the new young guns. In a couple years I'll be rooting for the random old guys, then younger coaches.

Are the Thunder "young guns?" Barkley made a hella smart point last night saying that when he and Kenny Smith were 23 years old, they were rookies.

Durant is 23, and has won three scoring titles.

He's not exactly unseasoned.

Anyway, the game last night was crazy awesome. All the "what about their chemistry" talk seems like was overblown. It looks as if everyone on the Thunder knows that Durant is The Man, with a couple of game sago Westbrook even saying "he's the scoring champ, when the game is on the line he'll take the shots".

We went seven games without starting a thread, mostly because these games have been unremarkable, aside from the Rose injury and the Durant game-winner. And then...well...the Clippers happened. I never thought I would say that. J.A.
