Rose Bowl: #7 Oregon vs #8 Ohio State
Fiesta Bowl: #4 TCU vs #6 Boise State
Sugar Bowl: #3 Cincinnati vs #5 Florida
orange Bowl: #9 Georgia Tech vs #10 Iowa
Mythical National Championship: #1 Alabama vs #2 Texas

Go Cincy, for the love of God.

Oh, and wow, all top 10 teams in the BCS. That's never happened before.

How the hell is Florida still 5? Cincy is going to get crushed. TCU/Boise St will be boring or very exciting, regardless few people will show up for it. Bama will roll. God, most of these games look like garbage.

Florida is still 5 because the BCS is stupid, but I don't see why they would be any lower than 6. Doesn't matter, if they win they'll finish in top 3 and if they lose they'll finish 12th or so. I personally don't see Cincy losing, I sure hope they don't. I remember last year's Sugar Bowl and Cincy > Utah and 08 Alabama > 09 Florida, so..

Also, Iowa/GT and TCU/Boise look like very good games, despite being utter BS as always, Ohio State/Oregon is the best Rose Bowl possible, and the national title game WILL be a lot closer than people think. Remember Alabama's almost lost to Auburn a little over 2 weeks ago.. people have short memories.

Oh, and this would be basically what a playoff system would look like.

Florida's only loss was to an undefeated team. I have them 3rd in my rankings.

.. HUH. Boise beat a BCS team. Florida lost by 19 to that undefeated team. So if Texas loses by 19 will you have them 3rd, dropping Florida to 4th?

In the link to my full rankings I describe my criteria. Score is never taken into account. If they lost by 1 or 100, Florida would still be 3rd. The BCS computers can't take into account Margin of Victory, so I don't either. Only wins and losses count.

Boise traveled the last time they went to the Fiesta, which is probably the main reason they took them as an at-large team.
Being #2 has been a benefit going into the national title game the last 5 years, and can Alabama handle a month of talk about how great they are without falling for the hype, while Texas is going to go into the game with people thinking they'll trip over their own shoes.
Iowa is the type of team that is made to order for the Georgia Tech offense. And, while the Georgia Tech defense is nothing special, I don't think Iowa can score above the high 20's.
For losing an elimination game to Oregon, Oregon State gets to go to the Vegas Bowl against BYU.
I don't like USC. Never have. But, I really and truly hope that USC decides to show up against Boston College.
Does UCLA root for Navy to beat Army (again) so they get to go to a bowl game, or do they root for Army to pull the upset so they don't have to go cross country to play Temple?
Nevada vs. SMU is you're Degenerate Gambler Bowl this year, as June Jones goes back to the islands.
What would have been more surprising going into this season: Northwestern getting a legit New Years Bowl game, or Auburn getting a legit New Years Bowl game?
Most intriguing non BCS Games seem to be
USC vs. BC
Utah vs. Cal
Northwestern vs. Auburn
Penn State vs. LSU
Oregon State vs. BYU
Miami vs. Wisconsin
Oklahoma vs. Stanford (actually would have liked to see USC vs. Oklahoma in the disappointing season bowl here)
Weird year where the Peach Bowl and Holiday Bowl don't seem interesting.

I will be the first to say it...I am very disappointed we do not get TCU vs. Florida and Cincy vs. Boise State. Once again the good ole boys network shows up to protect the big teams to make sure we do not have another Big 6 team get knocked off by a mid major. As an Iowa fan, I am glad to see them in the Orange Bowl, hopefully they have a better showing then the last time they played there.

Intriguing match ups for me:

Florida vs. Cincy---yes I complained above (Florida vs. TCU would have been better) but I truly think this can be a fun game

Missouri vs. Navy---battle of the gimmick offenses, the spread vs. the triple option (I have a feeling this can be a very high scoring game)

Oklahoma vs. Stanford---This could be a very good game if Oklahoma is up for it

Others worth watching:
Wisconsin vs. Miami
Arizona vs. Nebraska
Pitt vs. North Carolina

How the mighty have fallen. I don't think anyone thought USC would wind up in the Emerald Bowl with Boston College.

I'm very excited for the battle of the unbeatens that's NOT for the alleged national championship. One of those teams will get exposed and it'll probably be TCU.

If Cincy crushes the Florida Tebows, and I mean REALLY crushes them, I hope they get a share of the national title, just to show how broken this ridiculous system is.

Kentucky's playing in the Music City Bowl for the third time in four years (having played in the Liberty Bowl last year). They're trying to win four consecutive bowls for the first time in school history. They beat this year's opponent, Clemson, three years ago.

Really wish it would have been TCU vs GT in the Orange, I don't see Iowa hanging with GT. Florida may not be awesome on offense, but they'll crush Cincy. Texas will give Bama a great game, should be fun.

Two of you mentioned Miami vs Wisconsin, I'm not sure it'll be worthwhile. A mediocre FSU team, built similar to Miami, crushed Wisconsin last year. The Badgers may be a bit better, but I see a similar result unless they can get pressure on Harris, who falls apart when rushed.

OK Bobby, you got the bowl game you wanted, now just go out and slow down Noel Devine.

TCU/Boise will be fun but I'd rather they played the big boys instead to see what would happen, but then again the "big boys" are not undefeated and ranked much lower.

I could be wrong because I've never understood the selection process very much but didn't the last three picks go Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl? The Orange Bowl picked Iowa because they travel best. The Fiesta Bowl chose Boise State (or TCU, I don't know which one was their first pick and which was their second) because they WANTED the two non-major conference teams. The Sugar Bowl got Cincy because they were left over. I don't think this had anything to do with the "ole boys network".

Yeah, you've got that right.
The following teams were committed to a certain bowl:
Alabama and Texas to the BCS National Championship
Ohio State and Oregon to the Rose Bowl
Georgia Tech to the Orange Bowl

And then the at-large teams were selected as follows
1. Sugar Bowl - replacement for Alabama going to national championship, presumably Florida
2. Fiesta Bowl - replacement for Texas going to national championship, probably TCU (an in-state team, ranked higher than Boise State)
3. Orange Bowl - Iowa
4. Fiesta Bowl - probably Boise State
5. Sugar Bowl - Cincinnati

The Sugar could have taken the higher ranked BCS team in TCU and then taken Cincinnati, but that'd ruin their precious ratings and ticket sales, so they went with the safe pick. Don't act like they're innocent and doing the fair thing here.

I never said they did the fair thing. All I said is there isn't some conspiracy to protect major conferences from losing to a team that isn't in a major conference like Doc and many others have suggested. I even said (in a roundabout way) in my post that the Orange Bowl chose Iowa for the money.

So, if Brian Kelly doesn't coach unbeaten Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl because he's taken the Notre Dame job (which sounds like it's nearly about to happen), isn't that about as big an indictment of the value of these bowls than just about anything else that could happen? (Subquestion: Would Kelly skip out on the Bearcats if Cincinnati was getting ready for a first-round playoff game? I doubt it.)

Of course it does, but not every year with a team that's ranked #3 and trying to go undefeated. I wasn't talking about the practice in general, I meant this specific instance. It happening in the Meinieke Car Care Bowl doesn't make a difference either way, but we're talking about the Sugar Bowl.

Speaking of coaching changes, there could be several more that cause distractions for Bowls. Florida may lose Strong's full attention as they say tomorrow he'll get the Louisville job. UGA is hard after Smart at Bama, which would be a lateral move but UGA is his school so maybe. FSU is looking at Sunseri(Bama) or Stoops(UA).

I don't think it'll happen, but if Bama lost Smart and Sunseri, even if they coach the bowl game it would be interesting.

In the case of teams having higher conference rankings (just based on playing more games,) I put the higher-ranked team there. Example is Ohio State - they're still a half-game back of Iowa but ranked #2 in the nation and BCS.
