Why the hell will they take the time and effort to resign someone just to remove them so shortly thereafter? I mean, I can see dropping Colin Delaney and Braden Walker, who were unequivocal failures...but D'Lo? He was getting some decent face reactions. Plus, Venis himself has been a steady low to mid card performer who (from what I've seen) never complained about putting over the next big star.
I'll never understand why they feel the need to remove referees, though...especially Korderas. I mean, who's next?

I think this crop of releases can be blamed purely on cost-cutting measures due to the current stinkiness of the U.S. economy, as opposed to the usual "we have nothing for this guy" reasons.
I bet they probably asked old hands like Venis (who's name I just noticed it spelled closer to "Penis" than "Venus", interesting) and Korderas to take a fat pay cut, which they declined. I just pulled that completely out of my ass, but it sounds plausible to me.
I mean, WWE has plenty of young dudes hanging around who can fill Venis' jobber role on the cheap anyway, right?

Better late that never?
The slow build to the big Chavo vs. Bam explosion was too slow, as it turns out. By the time Christian is on TV, I wouldn't be surprised if there were even fewer La Familialumni left. Not to turn this into a "I SUSPECT THEY WILL BE CUTTING SCOTT 2 HOT TAYLOR SOON AS WELL" thread. | Psycho Penguin

Not his fault maybe but *shrug* Val has been around so long and was nothing compared to what he used to be. Who knows, maybe he will be back someday backstage. Guys like Neely, Thorne, and others were never really much more than (lower)midcard looking for new gimmicks. Might as well let 'em go.
The refs make sorta sense. With the rotation they had going on already you can cut down on those.
And for all we know, they sat down with guys like Korderas and mutually agreed on things. Maybe he didn't feel like traveling much more so he was the easiest to let go. Same for White.
I probably feel worse for the people we don't know. Losing your office job right now is probably not a good time. They can't go out and earn a few bucks in a highschool gym based on their past glory.

I hoped he could transition to a ringside announcer for a b-show, and he seemed like a natural to take over for Lawler when commenting on Diva matches. But that's fantasy management. I'm always hoping Lawler puts down the headset for good.
I'm sorry to see him gone, and I hope he's financially secure.

With WWE going to a PG product, the King's commentary should improve. Assuming it's his horndog antics that annoy you like they do so many others. 94-98 he was pretty good.
Too bad for Venis, but no big surprise. He was there for 10 years, even though 5 of them were pretty uneventful. But back to the point of being PG rated now, there's not much room for a porn star/gigolo in a kid friendly world.
