- USC loses Pac 10 opener on the road to unranked team, grass is green, etc.
- MARYLAND LOSES TO MIDDLE TENNESSEE AGAIN! This time at home. We should be ranked 119th, 120th if Virginia won, I don't know if they did or not, they were winning last I saw. Maryland's defense is SO BAD.
- Florida won but did not destroy Tennessee. I am not surprised, Kiffin has them respectable.
- Michigan State finds a new way to lose, missing a wide open TD pass in one play then an interception on the next. Is there a funnier team in America?
- Virginia Tech brings SOME respect to the ACC, but they won AT Nebraska last year anyways. Glad they won.
- Miami needs to win 1 of their next 2 before I'm super impressed.
Using the logic that the William C Rhoden's and John Saunder's of the world employed in 2005, there is only 1 man who is completely responsible for Washington knocking off USC: Tyrone Willingham. Had 'the man' given him the time, he would have won, as it was his players that won the game. I actually liked Toledo outright. Won't be hearing from Utah on BCS Sunday this year. Guess Miami is much better than I expected. Notre Dame has a dynamic offense. Notre Dame has a putrid (and major penalty prone)defense. Thank God that Michigan State remembered they were Michgan State. Usually doesn't happen in South Bend.
I watched the Cal vs Minnesota game today. Man that is a beautiful stadium they built! Maybe the Vikings could play there too? I wonder if CRZ was at the game?
USC always finds away to choke after a big win, Although Wash. gave LSU a run for the money a couple of weeks ago. Watch out for the Big W.
USC losing was the highlight of my day after the multiple heart attacks from MSU/ND. ND's defense is going to get Charlie fired and the irony its not really his fault. They need to stop blitzing every down and create some coverage patterns which saved them today. PSU can thank its cupcake schedule for probably being ranked number 2 by the time they get to Ohio State. Florida really didn't impress me at all I do think Tim "Second Coming" Teabow can't have another game same goes for Cody if Texas Tech defense keeps hitting him in the second half. I wonder if there has every been a time when all of the returning Heisman candidates and winner did not get invited back again? To be honest, if Clauston stays healthy and keeps passing for 250 to 300 yards a a game with 2 TDs, he will take Bradford's place while the QB for Miami is making waves. He could really move up if he beats Bradford in a few weeks.
If Floyd has a broken collarbone, then eliminate Claussen, as that was the best weapon for the Irish, and Tate will now be double teamed, which eliminates the 2nd best weapon for the Irish. When he is healthy, Floyd is a borderline great college receiver. Only problem is he finds a way to get hurt.
What a shock, USC loses to a team they should whip. Stunning.
Finally all the improvements I've seen from Jimbo and Tricket are coming together for FSU. Now if only Micky would retire so we can revamp that defense(this offseason most likely).
Miami is better than I thought too. Though as teams get film on them, we'll see if Whipple can keep it up.
Maryland vs Virginia. Someone tell me what weekend this matchup of titans will occur.
I don't think Floyd finds a way to get hurt, he is just a physical receiver. Tate even double-teamed will allow Rudolph to open as well as Grimes and Parish. Allen is running well, so I figure the run game is going to get more love then normal for Charlie. Colt threw for 205 yards, a TD and 2 Ints. He has four ints already when he had 8 all of last year. Most of the Ints were tips, but still, he seems to forcing it. I still think Clausen has a chance, but he needs to beat USC which now is not that big of a deal.
Quite the track meet in Fresno on Friday night - 5 TD's of 60 yards or more. With both BYU & Utah losing, it looks like the wild card BCS berth is Boise State's to lose. Tulsa looked like a potential future stumbling block but Oklahoma made them look more like an ineffective speed bump at best.
Not sure if even Florida State gets that non-call on the pass interference leading to the Pick 6 to start the 3rd quarter if they were at home instead of on the road but I am still not convinced that they are a Top 25 team.
Nice win for Cincinnati at Oregon State - the Big east may not be embarassed to be playing on New Year's Day this year.
Cal hasn't played in the Rose Bowl since 1959 and USC gacking like a first time fluffer this weekend helped make the path to Pasadena a little smoother but I am not sold on the Golden Bears being able to close the deal. Sorry Mom.
As always, there is a still a lot of football to be played and Las Vegas loves me & my prognostications.

Yeah, that was a bad miss by the refs, but oh well. Not convinced? They were a dropped pass from beating Miami and just pasted BYU. Sure the pass D stinks, but I don't know 25 teams that can hang with that offense.
Though the coaches poll apparently agrees with you and thinks BYU is still several spots better.
Also, read Grothe is done for the year. That sucks with the FSU/USF game this weekend.

I must have missed the "Washington will beat USC this weekend"-posts from you guys last week. Here in Husky-land snapping our 15-game Pac-10 losing streak against the #3 team in the country was not so expected.
I was worried all of the "Washington will keep it close"-talk was going to lead to a 52-17 blowout, which was further expected when USC jumped out to a 10-0 lead.
Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

A lot of people, including me, saw this as a trap game for USC. (I didn't post here at all last week..) Besides, it's starting to become a USC trend.

Yeah I was hesitant to post a thread this week cause I was feeling really sure FSU was gonna beat BYU but at the same time I just didn't want to jinx it by getting cocky. So I avoided predictions altogether.
I didn't really think Washington was going to win though, but let's face it USC does this every year of late. Who it's too doesn't matter so much(except to the winning team, I'm sure).
I LOVE Lane Kiffen btw. I know everyone else finds him obnoxious but for the first time in forever we have another coach getting under the skin of a Florida Gator coach and it rules. Going back to Spurrier and now with Urban the Gators seem to get the coaches that like to be dicks. Heck Urban is so childish he refuses to call FSU by it's name, referring to them as "that team up north".
So reading this:
"Asked whether he was worried about the flu also hitting Tennessee, Kiffin said: "I don't know. I guess we'll wait and after we're not excited about a performance, we'll tell you everybody was sick.""
I'm a Gator, but I don't hate Kiffin. I think he comes off as a doofus sometimes, but I think he is good for the SEC and will recharge some of the rivalries that have been waning in recent years.

I think calling Meyer a cheater is a bit much, but other than that I don't think Kiffin has done anything wrong. They had a good game plan against the Gators, they just don't seem to have the personnel yet. It could be interesting next year when Tebow is gone.
I hate to say it by my Gators don't even look like the best team in the SEC anymore. Alabama's defense looks better than everybody and Ingram/Jones is about as good a running back/receiver combo there is in the country. I thought the o-line and QB may struggle but so far neither has.
Yeah the Gators look like it's back to Tebow and nothing else again. I'm beginning to wonder if Meyer will ever develop a running back. I wonder if Debose hadn't gotten hurt how much help he could have been. Kid's really talented.
But it's a long season, never know what these teams will look like in a few weeks when conference play really hits.
NFC SCENARIOS (HOW THEY CAN GET IN, NOT COUNTING TIES): Carolina needs 6 out of 7 games to go their way to make the playoffs. If they get to 8 wins, they will have tiebreakers over every other 8-8 team. So they need two wins (vs. Dallas and vs. Tampa Bay)...
