I would love to see Orlando become the first team ever to win a series after trailing 3-0 in a series; the closest a team that came to achieving that feat was back in '94 when the 8th seeded Nuggets were down 3-0 and won 3 straight and only to lose game 7.

If Orlando can win game 5, then Orlando may believe that it may have a shot of becoming the first team to win a series after falling behind 3-0, but it will be awfully tough against this Celtics team.

With the Suns' win, the Western Conference Finals is all knotted up at 2 a piece. The Lakers are still the favorites but this gives me some hope that the Phoenix Suns can go to their 3rd ever Finals appearance.

Hopefully, Orlando can still make it a series tonight.

Going back to last year, that's 4 straight elimination games the Celtics have lost to Orlando. Dear God, they might have to play Scalabrine.

I did not think Stern would have Boston jobbing again tonight. Now it looks like Boston maybe down a couple of players at home.

I think everyone understood what you were trying to say. The problem is that what you describe is not what we know as home court advantage.

What you describe doesn't have a handy nickname like home court advantage, it's just... a thing that happens to be true. Call it "home games remaining" if you need to give it a title, but it's not home court advantage.

The second Perkins technical was such a crock. There isn't a chance that it sticks. He'll be around for Game 6. Glen Davis, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. That was a scary scene when he couldn't keep his balance.

Something funny happened on the way to that Lakers/Celtics Finals: Orlando and Phoenix started showing up.

I didn't start watching Game 5 until there was about 9ish minutes left in the 3rd quarter so I can't speak on anything that happened in what was apparently a very eventful first half. However, I did see the Glen Davis sequence, and man! Scary doesn't begin to describe it. Did anyone catch Doc Rivers screaming at Davis to get back on D, thinking he was just taking his sweet time sulking in the backcourt? Poor guy looked like he was out cold on his feet.

Davis is most likely out for Game 6 with a concussion. If both of Perkins's technicals stick (I heard the announcers say they think both of them will be rescinded by the league) that's technicals #6 and 7 for the postseason which means he'll be suspended for Game 6. Rasheed Wallace hurt his back and might be out for Game 6. And Marquis Daniels was already out with a concussion too?? I know no one has ever come back from down 0-3 in the NBA playoffs to win the series, but things certainly could be going worse for the Magic right about now. Davis/Perkins/Wallce being out would leave Boston with a serious big man-shortage, which would basically put them on my Hawks' level in terms of ability to cover Dwight Howard.

If the NBA is still fixed like it was back in 2002, it looks like David Stern and The Booking Committee are going for shocking swerves this year. Thunder-Lakers first round fireworks, LeBron's Game 5, Suns' entire team taking a hot tub time machine back to 2006, and now the beloved Celtics possibly choking away what appeared to be a sure sweep. This kinda stuff makes it interesting for die-hard NBA fans like myself, but I can't imagine the league would be happy with the ratings from a Suns-Magic (or even Suns-Celtics) NBA Finals.

I don't think the ratings be that bad for a Suns-Magic matchup if it did happen; after all, neither team has won a championship and I think it would be an interesting FInals if it were to happen. Regardless, the ratings probably would be higher if there is a rematch from the Finals of 2008 between Boston and LA.

After last night, the Magic have now made this a series and have in the back of their minds they can do what no other team has ever done and that is win the series despite down 3-0 but game 6 is in Boston and the Magic will have to carry every ounce of their momentum to try to force a deciding game 7.

Obviously what helped Orlando was 13 trifectas which was lacking in the first 3 games. The Suns have done what the Lakers have done in the first 2 games and that is get support off the bench and we'll see if Phoenix can win one in LA (and they might have to if they have hopes of winning this series).

What was seemingly a short road to the Finals has now turned into something interesting from both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals.

You are looking at the ratings situation from the perspective of a regular pro bball fan. You have to look at it from the perspective of the casual fan, and that person wants recognizable teams, recognizable faces, superstar names, etc.

I thought the year that George Mason made the Final Four was one of the most interesting Final Fours in recent memory, but I believe the ratings for that year were atrocious. Why? Because George Mason knocked out UNC, UConn, and Michigan State on the road to the Final Four, thus eliminating like half the teams that casual college bball fans care about. I believe Suns-Magic would be basically the same thing.

That final four also had Florida, UCLA, and Villanova and not a single close game. George Mason actually *garnered* most of the attention because they were a cinderella.

I think the NBA Finals will do fine ratings wise regardless of what matchup there is.. Suns/Magic isn't exactly Cavs/Spurs or Pistons/Spurs. It'd probably draw the lowest of the possible matchups, but still get above average ratings. I don't think the NBA or ABC will really care who gets in. They either get PHX/ORL (first title guaranteed), PHX/BOS (Boston gets ratings), BOS/LA (rematch of 2008), or ORL/LA (rematch of 2009).

Phoenix gave it their best shot but what a heartbreaking ending. That series is now over, no way Phoenix would win a game 7. Sigh.

I don't think there's any reason to believe the series is over. Phoenix came back from what looked like a potential blowout and nearly pulled out a victory at Staples Center. If they can take care of business at home the way they have, I don't doubt the Suns can pull off a Game 7 upset.

As much as I hate to say it, I think I would be in the camp that says this series is probably over. That was such a furious comeback, particularly the Suns' last offensive possession. To STILL lose in the last :01 of the game has to be soul crushing.

But as stated on Mike&Mike this morning, this Phoenix team has been crushed like this before. They will bounce back with a big win in Game 6 and that will lead to a fantastic Game 7.

In the end, I do think the Lakers will win game 7, unfortunately, due to the K-factor. Kobe will win them game 7...

The Lakers may have escaped from LA with a win but this is the difference between the Lakers and Suns; the Lakers are used to high-pressure games and battling down to the wire and have the championship banners to prove it.

Don't get me wrong, I am still cheering for the Suns and think they can win 2 in a row to go to their 3rd ever Finals apperance but on the flipside, Kobe and the Lakers have more vital experience in these type of situations when the game is on the line. Ron Artest isn't exactly a last second game-changer but LA now holds a 3-2 series edge and are on the verge of going to their 3rd straight Finals appearance.

Can UCLA PLEASE hire a real head coach?! I've seen the clip about 5 times with Matt Barnes saying "if we come to play we can beat any team." Well, a REAL head coach would have them coming to play every night.
