Even the Cubs are balking at guaranteeing Jake Peavy's $22 million option year until they can find someone to take 2/3rds of Jason Marquis' final year contract off their hands.
In other news, apparently the Mets have acquired JJ Putz to back up K-Rod in the pen. Sounds impressive.

I was SO ready to laugh at the Mets when the K-Rod signing blew up in their faces.
Then they had to go and show that they really are serious about their bullpen. Damn.
