It'd be nice if the Dodgers would stop dicking around and sign ANYBODY, because they're about to lose Lowe, Furcal, and Penny. If they lose Manny on top of that, then hello NL West cellar. They can keep the Padres company.

No need to worry about the NL West cellar. Especially when the D-Hacks best offer to Mark Loretta was a ham sandwich and three boxes of Hi-C. Perhaps we can play without a second baseman entirely.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that there are a lot more big money players out there than there are big money deals to be had this offseason? Even the Cubs are balking at guaranteeing Jake Peavy's $22 million option year until they can find someone to take 2/3rds of Jason Marquis' final year contract off their hands.

In other news, apparently the Mets have acquired JJ Putz to back up K-Rod in the pen. Sounds impressive.

I was SO ready to laugh at the Mets when the K-Rod signing blew up in their faces.

Then they had to go and show that they really are serious about their bullpen. Damn.

He can be funny at times, but the same impressions over and over (Vitale, the Irishman, the French Canadian) get stale quickly. His schtick with Wilson (straight man/funny man)
