Which means I should feel *that* much worse about forgetting to vote again this year, right?

To answer a question you had in your results posting, HUSTLE is a pro wrestling group promoted by Nobuhiko Takada. And reading the Wiki page on it, it sounds like the sort of promotion that could only exist in Japan.

I remembered to vote, looked at the ballot, and realized that I didn't really feel qualified to answer any of the ballots. I couldn't even come up with a 3rd place match (after Cena/Umaga & MVP/Benoit 2-out-of3), so I junked my ballot and waited for the results.

The WWE is the worst form of wrestling promotion, except for all those others that have been tried from time to time.

Do people interpret the underrated/overrated categories in a "push versus talent" kinda way? Or how overblown announcers are at building them up? Cos I haven't heard that much raving about how awesome Khali is, and to a certain extent it would make about as much sense if his and Shelley's awards were switched.

    Most Overrated Wrestler

    Award Description:

To be given to the wrestler who really has little talent, but has a large
place in the spotlight nonetheless. This is a measure of how undeserved a
    wrestler's push is.

Yeah, Khali is a good choice for most overrated by the award description.

- I am shocked, SHOCKED CM Punk tied for first with Cena for best babyface. I am even more disappointed that no one commented on why they went in that direction.

- John Cena vs HBK (Raw) as best match must have won because more people saw it, but I was not impressed with it myself.

- I didn't put The Great Khali on my ballot all that much, because he was so bad that I think I just got used to it. I can certainly see why he swept many of the awards though.

- The fact that Undertaker has never won 'Most Favourite Wrestler' saddens me some.

- These are always fun even if my votes usually don't match the majority, so I have to thank Mr. CRZ for doing this again. Nice work.

Hilarious. Yes, I agree. I was also "disappointed" by the news.

The Rock not appearing at RAW XV was "disappointing." What Benoit did... there are other words.

That's a category that I think has gotten away from what it was meant to be.

It's hard to really categorize the deaths in the same category as 'disappointing' news items, since how do you judge one life over another? By the way, is the unanimous vote for the Benoit murders in this category the first unanimous vote in RSPW award history?

Mike Awesome had a first place vote, so it wasn't unanimous.

Yeah, Khali is a good choice for most overrated by the award description.

Unfortunately most wrestlers are not pushed based simply on talent, nor should they be. I don't think McMahon himself would even try to convince anyone that he pushes Khali based on talent, and he shouldn't have to.

I'm no fan of Khali at all, but in all honesty, "This is a measure of how undeserved a wrestler's push is if all you care about is workrate and workrate only" should be how it's worded.

And yeah, they really gotta change "disappointing" if they want to include stuff like a man killing his wife and child. These are two examples of whoever decided the titles of the awards having a hard time with that 'seperation of wrestling and reality' that people claim Bret Hart suffers from.

Benoit's death (being a double murder suicide) received more news coverage and put a more negative spotlight on the industry than anyone else's. It's that simple, really.

I wonder if the disappointment wasn't that Benoit did it as much as it was that Benoit, of all people, did it. If the formatting helps explain it... which I doubt.

Are you guys overthinking this or NOT thinking? It was pretty easily the worst news of the year. It really shouldn't be surprising that it was as near a unanimous choice as any in the entire history of the awards. I really have no idea what you would rather people have chosen in its place.

I don't know about Flair for this one. Sure he's deteriorated and all but I don't think he's changed from 2006 to 2007. Has he won this award before, maybe even multiple times? I'm interested in what the definition of this award is and who else was voted on.

Re-read CRZ's first post. He linked the RSPW site where the results are kept with a complete year-by-year history of the awards.

I'm gobsmacked that Cena won Best Wrestler, given how much hateration he's gotten in the past. Not that I think it's unjustified, it was just amazing to see his name there.

I only saw a couple episodes of WSX, but I still have a soft spot for 'em because they had the Human Tornado.
