I thought it was definitely the best match of the year, even better than the Dragon Gate match from ROH 3/31. It probably was the best match I've seen since Joe/Punk II back in 2004. Just a wonderfully emotional matchup. If you haven't watched it yet, go to the links above and see it now!

I think they played the dynamic of Marafuji's speed and prowess vs. Akiyama's strength and power brilliantly plus a great surprise finish.

I caught Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA on YouTube last night, and was very impressed. One of the better technical matches I have seen in a long time. It is rare anymore that you see a match that you could almost think was real.
I have seen quite a bit of ROH, but not that much of Bryan Danielson before. He is VERY good, and reminds me a bit of a combination of Bob Backlund and William Regal. At least in that match, he did. Maybe it was the dorky haircut and pasty white skin. I can't see him making it in WWE, but that's fine. ROH and TNA needs stars too.

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"
Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much." | MisterHenderson

| #32 Posted on 1.1.07 0011.00 | Instant Rating: 4.78 | Here are some more thoughts from a demented mind in Central Florida: I'm surprised that no one's mentioned the following yet:
Styles/Daniels vs. AMW - Slammiversary - June 18, 2006 Styles/Daniels vs. LAX - Ultimate X Tag Team Titles Match - No Surrender - September 24,2006 Lethal Lockdown (Sting/Styles/Killings/Rhino vs. Jarrett/Steiner/AMW) - Lockdown - April 23, 2006
To dilute my blatant TNA homer-ism ;), I'll add that Foley/Edge from Wrestlemania was some serious wild stuff. And while I didn't enjoy it for the same reasons as the previously-listed matches, Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James from Wrestlemania was also fun to watch.

It may not be up there on the high spot scale; it wasn't a technical masterpiece by any means; but those two beat the living hell out of each other and the endgame was fantastic. Who wouldn't have quit under those circumstances?
