| #22 Posted on 29.7.03 2038.26 | Eh. The only band listed here I give a shit about is White Stripes.
And is anyone else getting sick of this punk-pop shit? Bands who play pop-music, but claim to be punk-rock, as they were influenced by Blink 182, who was influenced by Green Day, which means shitty music that degrades the name of punk-rock. ARRRRGH!

I know it's pop, you know it's pop, but to the kids who that music is marketed to it's punk. It's punk because for the better part of 6/7 years, a good portion of many of these kids lives, the music industry has done nothing but dish out bubblegum pop. So when they see something stupid like Avril or Blink 182 skateboarding through the mall, yes I sometimes forced to watch this shit at friends house, they see it as a tremendous step towards true rebellion.
The thing is you have these musical genres with such rich history, with set stereotypes about what that genre is and who the people are that listen to them that it would be commercially idotic to let them die by the wayside. Kinda of reminds me of political groups, even though you have a set notion of what a Democrat and Republican is, they are much different in practice now then what they were during say the Civil War. Why? Because there are different issues, different agendas. But to stray from those historically rich names would be suicide now wouldn't it? The same goes with music there different issues or different agendas there. Back in the glory days, music was to made to entertain or to get stoned by. Now, music is used to sell soundtracks, and once the soundtrack deals run out, to sell cars or jeans.
So to the purist, it sure is heartbreaking when you put Blink 182 in the same category as The Clash, because they are total opposites. To the purist, it is heartbreaking to see Papa Roach in the same category as Black Sabbath because they are total opposites. To the purist it is heartbreaking to see Nirvana in the same category as Puddle of Mudd, hopefully you know why.
So the bastardization of these genres will continue, as long as there is dollars to be made from exploiting these categories.
(Sorry I had to rant, but it pisses me off at times)
"Greg be working", said the Arab mockingly, as he wiggled his toes above the plumbers...crack. Greg was well aware that his wife was having an affair with this foreign man. But, Greg kept working, as per his probation.
