Brodcasting & Cable has an in-depth about the history of the "fourth network" that has of late been finishing #1 with the 18-49 set:

I can remember a Fox-less universe as a teenager, and as it's morphed into a broadcasting force, it's provided me with some of my favorite TV memories. Who'd a thunk it? Although I can't believe it's been twenty years...

It was the usual suspects: I Love Lucy, Star Trek, Andy Griffith. The station also was the only one in the area showing Star Trek: TNG and Arsenio Hall when they started.
Otherwise, I remember the network's Werewolf and Duet.

Thank you I come here daily to feel old...actually, this sort of scary, I have a tape from my local affiliate, that means the tape has to be over 20 years old, switch over back in 1986 that had a guy saying you can pick us on rabbit ears, antenna, on August 11, 1986 or September. That's when my UHF station from TV-23 WVAH to Fox 11 WVAH.
Not much changed during the day but yeah I remember some the early stuff. Some stuff that is still on today. Wow.
