From the NWA Message Board who got it from PWBTS:

"Big Boss Man was backstage at NWA TNA last night. As far as i'm aware he is still under contract to WWE and is employed in a road agent/trainer capacity.

Rikishi has sent out feelers to NWA TNA after negotiations regarding a new WWE contract broke down earlier this week."

-----------

Now, Iam a huge Boss Man mark so if he gets into TNA I will be happy. Rikishi, I don't really care. But I thought I read somewhere that Rikishi came to terms with WWE and signed a new contract last week or something? But oh well.

I'm pretty sure that neither guy is going to have WWE sweating bullets over turning the tide to TNA's favour or whatever. Both guys would only serve to drag down the fast-paced level of entertainment TNA have currently got going, and as an added drawback would make the company feel even more like the WWE Reject's Playground.

Well, Boss Man isn't exactly in the prime of his career, but Rikishi is still fairly over, even though I haven't seen him much recently. This could be fairly bad for WWE, though, as Rikishi is their "weneedtogetthismonsteroverletsfeedhimrikishi" guy.

Sometimes I ask myself why I watch WWE after all the crap it's given me. HLA, necro, HHH, and so on. And then it hits me. That one simple phrase that can be modified and used for anything that gets you down, yet makes you keep coming back.

Every episode has the potential to be the best one ever, and I'll be damned if I'm going to miss it after sitting through this shit.

I just read from either the Observer or 1Wrestling earlier in the week that Rikishi signed a new contract and should be returned to tv soon. Although if he did ever go to TNA, i'm sure he'd be involved in some way with his brother Ekmo (Jamal).

I doubt the Bossman would be looking to jump. I've always heard he's one of those "contract for life" guys, and I can't see any payoff he might get from TNA being worth giving up a long-term job as an agent or trainer with WWE.

As far as Rikishi goes, big deal. Whether he's re-signed or not doesn't make much difference as far as I see it. Rikishi hasn't been on TV for months and nobody has missed him. His gimmick hasn't been fresh for a long time now, and unless he's in Bossman's boat and Vince wants to keep him around out of recognition of company service, I say let him go.

I know that Big Boss Man was working for a time as a trainer/scout down in OVW for WWE. I assume that still holds, as I've seen him once or twice here in Louisville over the past year (heck, I saw him having to move his car one time before an OVW show because one of the security guards there told him to move it).

I do know some of the OVW people are friendly with the NWA-TNA people, so it's quite possible that if he was there, he was there to see what was going on.

Or perhaps even do some scouting. Hmm.

If the WWE's generous enough to let Bossman take the occasional independant booking (is he still semi-active? I don't keep up with the indy scene) he may've been down there for professional reasons. I mean, it's not like he's on WWE television any more, so if he gets fed to Kid Kash as part of his legend-killer gimmick it wouldn't exactly do huge damage to the company...

What's with all the 'Kish hate around here? He's about ten times more serviceable than almost anyone around his heft. He's got cat-like agility compared to, say, Ape-Train. He seems kid-friendly, butt-floss notwithstanding, and always gets a nice pop. He's non-threatening, won't make waves, and as has been mentioned is a nice always-over franchise face that can be used to get others over. Whose face did he sit on to be so loathed around here?

I'm of the one-person-strong school of thought that they sincerely missed the boat with Rikishi. When Austin was out with the neck problems in late '99 to late 2000 they had all of 10 months before they had any reason to believe Stone Cold was ever coming back, and they just leaned on Rocky. Meanwhile, with Austin gone and Rock a distant #1, Kish had to be the second most over face in Titan-land at the time, was getting huge pops and would have been more than welcome in a main event role. But instead he danced around with the tan-in-a-can wigger-midgets and then got turned a forced, unnatural heel that no one was prepared to accept.

Tell me you did not just say that. Forget the Rikishi Hatred round here, I can't understand the A-Train loathing. He's got a great big-man moveset, a good grasp of psychology, an undeniably unique look and the fans HATE him. And the reason Kishi wasn't pushed as a top face is the same reason The Godfather never got that World Title program with Steve Austin-they work as midcard pop-the-crowd semi-comedy performers, but neither have the in-ring ability, ring presence or charisma to even come close to the top stars.

AMEN. Train's an awesome big man wrestler. He busts out new moves with regularity (latest example -- the butterfly hanging thing into the gutbuster [IIRC, maybe a backbreaker] a couple of weeks ago). He's fast, strong, yells a lot. What's not to love? He doesn't do moves off the top rope enough? Feh.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, the original thread -- Kish could be interesting as a dead serious heel siding with Ekmo & Siaki, say. I've no interest in his comedy stylings, though.

Well for one, ever since Edge yanked his tights up and showed us all his pubes a few months ago, I haven't had too much tolerance for him.

Yes, he busts out occasional unique moves, but I don't know where you're getting this good grasp of psychology stuff from. He's only good when he's being carried. As far as the look goes, it's a freak-show midcard look...but I don't know if the hairy s&m dynamic is a main event type deal.
