"The Jeff Fenech-trained Vic Darchinyan claimed the IBF flyweight title with an 11th-round knockout win over Colombian Irene Pacheco." Vic is the reason for the "Aussie" bit in the title. He's a citizen now, but like most good Aussie boxers, he's a New Aussie. Originally from Armenia, but stayed on/came back (?) after Sydney 2000.
"SHANNAN TAYLOR became Australia's latest world boxing champion with a thundering second-round knockout of Thailand's Sakda Sorpakdi" (The WBF super middleweight title) "Taylor will fight the IBF junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma in Las Vegas on January 29.
His only previous world title fight was in 2001, when he was stopped by World Boxing Council welterweight champion Shane Mosely"
For those who remember in 2001 he was MURDERED by Mosely. It came out not long after that he was a huge coke fiend at the time. Now he's straight and has gone 11-0 since he came back. Its good to see him win something, because he can be quite good to watch.
The NW sked has fluctuated between 32-35 races...2015 might have more or less than 33 (is what I was thinking). As long as they say so ahead of time I couldn't care less. Nothing bothers me about ESPN shifting races around.
