CLANCY M'FN BROWN ~!

Poor little frog.

How many hours will be wasted tomorrow by Lost fanboys trying to figure out what the symbols mean?

Wow. Just wow.

I'm glad that SOMEONE finally pointed out to Sayid that this isn't the first time Russo's captured someone and accused them of being an Other. Its just a shame it took Jack so damn long to make the point.

Sayid's accusal that the man must be lying because he doesn't remember all the details of his wife's burial is an interesting one. I won't say that he's wrong, but who's to say that he was as intensely in love with his wife as Sayid was with Shannon? I have a feeling this guy isn't an Other, blood will be spilled, and we'll have more glumness and remorse on the island.

INDEED! Pausing it it looks like there's a hook of some sort (a worm or a snake perhaps?), a missle, a bird (penguin?), and a stick. (Is the last one the DHARMA arrow? I wonder if they aren't the symbols of the other five hatches. That could make sense that if the code isn't entered, a signal goes out to the other hatches. Assuming the Others are in one of those hatches, they'll get the signal that something is up and attack the hatch that initiated the signal, which could have to do with the incident that Candle referenced in warning them not to use the computer for outside communication.)

The preceding paragraph makes me a 'Lost fanboy', doesn't it?

After last week, why was Sawyer trying to be all buddy-buddy with Hurley? And is Sawyer required to be harassed by an animal once each season? Didn't he remember not killing the boar? I'm really surprised Hurley didn't just completely abandon him. I'm also surprised Sawyer didn't force Hurley to accompany him at gunpoint.

Was there a balloon looking smiley face on the drawings in the hatch? Or am I just thinking of the sun with the 108 in it?

Its episodes like this that make me think that we need more Sayid.

Wow.

hopefully, it also means Sayid will be the Arn Anderson of the heel faction.

Since there is a rerun next week, I really don't want to spend two weeks trying to 'explain' the symbols.

It's funny that on the Lost Podcast, they did say we would see what happens if the clock hits zero. Of course, we really didn't see what would totally happen. but, that's the show for you.

I didn't record it, but were they Egyptian hieroglyphics (jimloy.com)?

What's goin on there with Sayid and Charlie? Is that your second stable?

Oh, and how about that preview...

I must disagree, I believe he was an Other. The look he shot Sayid as Jack dragged Sayid out of the room was not one of fear, but a decidedly even look, akin to a pokerface. ("Is he exhibitng shades of Pokerface?") All we needed was Tony Soprano screaming that his mother smiled under the oxygen mask.

Spoeaking of which, regaring our man Henry Gale from Wisconsin (imdb.com):

The Wizard of Oz
Cast overview, first billed only:
Judy Garland.... Dorothy Gale
Charley Grapewin .... Uncle Henry

I'm looking forward to the Grrrl Power episode coming up (presumably week after next, as I hear they're replaying the pilot episode next week - curious timing for that).

Well, you seem half right. Going by that page, the first character is an S. The fourth character is an A. The 'missile' in the middle and the stick (almost looks like a crutch) don't seem to have any analagous symbols. Perhaps we need to look to other graphical languages.

Edit: Finally found a screengrab of the symbols. (lost.cubit.net)

Also, AlphaDog, he said he was from Minnesota, not Wisconsin. In light of this info I now take back what I said about him not being an Other.

X-E's co-Worst Poster of all time! JKyle.com says:

The real question I'm asking is which camp Eko (and everybody) going to end up in.

The factions seem to be heading towards:

Faith: Locke (all alone now?)

?: Sayid, Charlie, Sawyer

Science: Jack, Anna Lucia

I'm inclined to believe Hurley's superstitions would lead him to side with Locke.

Jin will either make amends with Sawyer or end up where Michael does (if Mikey comes back to do something besides die)

I also think militant Jack and ultra bitch Anna sound a lot more heelish than jealous Charlie, greedy Sawyer, and Proud Sayid.

One sounds totalitarian, the other sounds... like the 7 deadly sins. Hey maybe Hurley's with THEM!

What ? No mention of Hurley's secret stash of Dharma Never Goes Bad Food ? I may actually have a bottle of that ranch dressing in the back of my fridge......

The Sayid Heel Turn is now complete and he becomes a much better & stronger character. I look forward to his joining Sawyer & Charlie in the triumvirate power struggle. Sawyer killing the frog was perfect. I was just waiting for the frog to have to toxic element to him and for Sawyer to start to hallucinate & foam at the mouth.

What do the symbols mean ? Who the hell knows and I am not going to waste any time trying to find out either because for all I know, they are yet another red herring.

Really looking forward to the Grrl Power episode in 2 weeks....and was that Claire screaming in the commercial for some slasher/horror flick ?

I jumped up when I saw him, thinking "Aw, yeah, now Brother Justin's gonna open up a can of whoopass on y'all!". Reading pieman's response made me do a double-take. After a quick IMDB search, come to find the man has an impressive voice actor resume as well. I had no idea!

When Sayid started his train of thinking going from Shannon down to the Others, I was spellbound. Then when he started stomping a mudhole - just WILD.

The significance of the American dude being able to speak Arabic didn't hit me until this morning when I read another message board where somebody pointed it out. So either I need more sleep, or the shocking swerves at the end are now going completely unnoticed by me. I'm not sure what this means other than I really can't figure out why I continue to feel compelled to watch this show.

Regarding the symbols, another board posted this image:

suggesting the code is a "kill" command of some type. But that could be killing a person or a program.

Also, others have posted that the soldier holding a photograph was Kate's recruiter dad from a previous episode and that the pic is of Kate. I didn't recognize it as her last night.

That I DID catch...and the Arabic...

I'm not so curious about the symbols other than knowing that something DID happen when it reached zero...you could almost hear Locke "clenching" as he was trying to type.

Looking forward to seeing what happens in the "new" hatch...plus more Libby!

I would probably count Claire (and Aaron) as Locke's group since he's been protecting them. Also I think Michael probably ends up with Locke since Locke was willing to help learn how to shoot a gun, and because he did seem to care about Walt back when Walt was still around. And Jin probably ends up with Michael. Even though Kate looked disgusted with Sawyer at the end of last week, I think she still ends up with Sawyer. So then you have

Locke: Claire, Michael, Hurley, Libby?, Jin
Sawyer: Sayid, Charlie, Kate
Jack: Ana Lucia

Since Jack's group is so outnumbered I think Eko ends up with them even though Eko and Jack haven't had much interatcion yet. He does seem to have some kind of loyalty to Ana Lucia though. Or maybe Jin ends up with Jack. Who knows.

OK you got me, what is the significance of the american speaking arabic? I just figured he was CIA/Special Forces (due to haircut, manner of dress) and that was part of his skill set.

I'm guessing that the significance was the American could understand what Sayid and Tariq were saying to each other the whole time. So in reality he didn't really need a translator. And it was kind of mysterious how he just left Sayid there with the money at the end after giving him the little speech in arabic.

I kept waiting for thier truck to blow up from a roadside bomb as it left, but I guess that was Gulf War Classic and not Nu Gulf War (and since Kate's dad was inside, I guess they couldn't lose him either).

Yeah, he's in storylines with her as an adult. I guess Kate is protrayed at mid 20s? So she would have been about 9 or 10 at the time.

Ah, Kurgan was testing Sayid, and he gave him the cash because that's the way you recruit peeps abroad.

I wish they could've afforded some decent CGI for the Iraq scenes though. Man, that was brutal. Pretty good episode. I'm definitely dreading the upcoming Claire episode, however. Oh yeah, somebody needs to give Jack some Prozac. And there's no way that Henry Gale isn't one of the others...

There's definitely a parallel to Secret Invasion there, but after the Captain Marvel episode, this felt like more of a set up for the Kree/Skrull war.
