Given that our system was a Time Warner system which was rolled into Comcast, and Comcast wants to include the NFL Network as part of their digital sports tier, and the NFL wants them to include it in a package people are more likely to pay for, they're dicking around and dicking around and at this point who knows if they'll manage to negotiate this channel onto my system by the time their exclusive Thursday games roll around. The sad thing is the Comcast proper systems in cities mere miles away already have it. Am I REALLY going to have to make FRIENDS in OTHER CITIES? (DirecTV isn't really an option at this point.)

Just wondering if anybody else gives a care about the fact that there might be "national" football games on that they're totally locked out of.

(Yeah, yeah, they'll probably come up with something at the 11th hour. MAYBE. Jerks.)

Of course, the Thanksgiving game is Denver vs. Kansas City, so it's not like I'm missing much there, right? Ah ha ha.

NFL Network Thursday Games
Thanksgiving Denver at Kansas City
11/30 Baltimore at Cincinnati
12/07 Cleveland at Pittsburgh
12/14 San Francisco at Seattle
12/21 Minnesota at Green Bay (!)

How is this different from any other Sunday? I don't have DirecTV (and therefore, no Sunday ticket) so I'm stuck watching whatever Fox and CBS decide I should watch*. I don't see why CBS would give Philadelphia KC-Denver, so I'm really not losing out on anything anyway.

Then again, I'll be at my parents for Thanksgiving, and they have the NFL Network in their digital package, so I may not miss anything at all...

In a related note, Congress seems to be taking issue with whether or not Sunday Ticket's exclusivity counts as a monopolistic practice (today.reuters.com).

*Edit: I would like to point out that I was disappointed when I flipped over hoping to find the SD-Cincinatti shootout and instead found GOLF on CBS. Instead the 4:00 game was Denver-Oakland. The NFL Network would be totally worth it not just for the Thursday night games, but I would love to be able to watch the NFL Replay of that game. Oh well...

NFL network is so awesome (I have it), I'm considering NOT buying NFL Ticket next year. What's the point? You get the best games anyway.

I care, because I don't get it, either, on Charter cable (nor can I get it on their digital system). However, I bowl on Thursday nights, anyway, so it's not like I'll be home to watch these games.

Don't forget the Saturday games

12/16: Cowboys vs. Falcons
12/23: Chiefs vs. Raiders
12/30: Giants vs. Redskins

And all NFLN games will be picked up by local stations in their home markets, same as has been with ESPN.

There's usually nothing on Thanksgiving night, so if people are over, and we're near the room that has the digital converter box, we'll probably turn it on.

I think this is going to affect me more so in trying to remember to set up my fantasy teams by Thursday afternoon rather than spending another 3 hours watching a game with marginal interest. And I'm more disappointed they'll only be 8 games going on at once when I watch Sunday Ticket at a sports bar, instead of the obviously preferable 9.

Since the local team will be shown in the local market, I will be happy to watch the Browns/Steelers game on my local channel. (Even though the Browns will presumably get thumped.)

The difference is that on Sunday, you get the football FOX/CBS (and to an extent, the NFL) wants you to see, whereas in this scenario you get NO football at all.

It's games that I wouldn't be able to see anyway, so I don't see any reason to be annoyed with it. For instance, I don't have cable, so I don't get to see the Monday night game (unless it's the Packers). Should I be mad about that?

But I get NO football on a Thursday night normally, anyway. On a typical Sunday, I have four games available to me. Two early games, a late game, and a night game. I still get those, and I have no control over which games I get. Basically, the Thursday/Saturday night games are no different than if they happened on Sunday and weren't shown in my market. Really, all the NFL Network is doing is giving its subscribers the ability to watch 6 more hours of football a week, whereas the typical fan can only watch 12 hours(3 games Sunday and MNF.)

But...there IS football on a Thursday night! And I'm not going to get to see it despite the fact that it's a "national" game! That's the whole point!!! These games used to be on channels I could receive, and now they're on NFL Network, so I'm WHINING.

I mean, you can say you never got football on a Thursday normally, but you did - it's been on ABC in the past. It's been on TNT or ESPN. THIS is the new "normal" - a channel lots of us don't have on our cable system (if what I'm inferring is correct) and I know I'm really going out on a limb here, but I think it sucks. That was my real point. Sorry it took me three posts to make it.

**(Unless Comcast comes through and gives me the NFL Network after all - in which case, to hell with the rest of you as long as *I* get MINE.)

The real tragedy is not missing the games, it's missing the catchy NFL Replay commercial!

Also, if the Denver @ KC game is any indication, local channels in the immediate area will be able to carry the game if the NFL Network isn't available there.

Don't think I'm not one to appreciate some good WHINING...

But where was your concern when you were getting only 1 of about 6 "national" games on CBS and 1 of about 6 "national" games on Fox? There are always games being broadcast that you can't see, and without Sunday ticket you have no say in that matter. Looking over that schedule, I don't think there are any games that I personally would NEED to see (except maybe Giants/Redskins, but by that point the Giants should be coasting and the 'skins should be eliminated so it won't matter). I think the bigger issue is that people have no say in what games the NFL force-feeds them. The issue of whether the games can't be watched on a Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday is irrelevant. (This is why I brought up the Sunday Ticket hearings - if THAT was available on Comcast, I'd consider getting it.)

I don't really care because the Packers/Vikings game will be carried locally (I don't remember on what station, but I'll find it), and that's the only game listed I'd have any interest watching.
