In Charlie's dream, he saw a white dove and a black dove. Just like the black and white eyes Locke sported in Claire's Season One dream. Both dreams focused on Aaron in danger. There are two children among the main survivor group: Aaron and Walt. One white, one black.

This goes along with the white hatch/black rock, white shaft of light/black smoke, and, more important, the backgammon game pieces we saw when Locke and Walt played together in the series's first episodes.

But my main point is to reiterate what I said last week: This is the season where our regulars lose dey shit.

Oh, and when Charlie cited Kate's vision and the sightings of Walt in his defense, I laughed out loud. There was a lot of good laughs this episode. "No, I am not hitting that."

I've never been on the Charlie bandwagon, but I never really hated him either. When Charlie was jibbering on after taking the baby, I was totally thinking "Locke needs to hand the baby to Claire and then turn and give Charlie a good hit." And lo and behold, Charlie got his ass beat! Awesome.

I loved the scenes of all the cast standing around as Charlie just freaked out completely. It was a nice way to involve everyone in the episode without giving them much to explicitly do.

The Hurley-Libby romance is moving along quickly. The line about Sawyer acting like he was in high school was spot on. When Hurley said he recognized Libby, who else is thinking that its from the psyche ward (what with her being a psychologist and all)? And also that she probably recognizes him as well since she immediately changed the topic?

I can't believe Charlie's brother would be such a dick to sell his prized piano without offering any sort of compensation.

I wonder if the baptism concept has anything to do with the Others taking only the 'good people', per the Goodwin-Ana Lucia conversation.

I didn't like those previews at the end...

Actually, I think we have no new episode next week, but it resumes normally 2/8.

The lack of justice system on the island is painfully apparent; Charlie is now a murderer and a kidnapper. I predict the next (final?) Charlie-centric episode will be titled: "Strike Three"

The return of THE MOST EVIL LOOK IN THE HISTORY OF TV (lost-france.com) by itself made this one a great episode. The "building the cradle in Claire's dream" sequence has gone largely ignored since it happened, but it's clearly far too important to just be cast aside; thus, Locke's involvement with Claire and the baby is not entirely altruistic.

By the way, I haven't done any exact calculations, but my working hypothesis is that approximately 44% of Claire's lines are "He/She/It/Something has my baby!"

I've said since that episode (the 2nd hour of the two-hour premiere) that Locke's explanation of the backgammon pieces was the key to the entire show; my theory has only picked up steam since then (Aaron/Walt, Locke/Eko, and the other examples that Matt Tracker was sharp enough to pick up on).

While last night's episode did not do a lot to advance the overall storyline I think it did a lot to show more of the darker side of Locke. Did you notice his dismissal of the baptism ? And why did he keep the heroin instead of destroying it ? Is he keeping it around in order to use it against Charlie should Claire begin to let him back into her life ?

Sawyer calling Hurley "Jabba", "Jethro" and "Hoss" all within the span of a 30 second conversation was great. And what was Hurley roasting on his stick when he was talking to Kate & Sawyer ? It at least explains a little why Hurley hasn't lost a pound in over 50 days.

Dirty Libby is cleaning up very nicely.

I kept waiting for Claire to say "The Dingo ate the Baby !!!"

I have to quit watching the previews - they are giving away too much.

Isn't there something very wrong with Sen. Ted Kennedy naming his dog "Splash" ???

Ah, my wife and I immediately thought that she was NOT the psychologist she claimed to be, but a patient herself.

And dunk is right about Sawyer's names for Hurley. I loved that part.

Has anyone ever heard or read anything about the producers maybe wanting Hugo "Hurley" Reyes to lose weight for the show ?

No. In fact...

It's been said that there will be a storyline explanation for why he Hurley *hasn't* lost weight. Speculation says it's some sort of medical condition.

I'm beginning to want ABC to not show previews at all, because they're always misleading, and because of that, they're causing such rampant speculation in the wrong direction. The preview for this week's episode didn't reveal that it was actually Charlie taking Aaron out of the crib, leading you to think that perhaps an Other kidnapped him.

    Sawyer calling Hurley "Jabba"

Someone on the writing staff is a Star Wars fan. Jabba last night, Sawyer calling Jin "Chewie", and Michael using "this one goes here, that one goes there" during the building of the raft.

Same here. I think Libby's definitely a nutjob, before she even got to the island. She knows all these psychology terms because she's had them used on her in the past.

There were some good things about this episode, such as the Voltron Christmas (I got that exact same thing for X-Mas one year, brought back heroin flashbacks of my own), Locke beating the living hell out of Charlie in probably the coolest thing he's done all season, and Sawyer reverting back to his sleazebag ways.

The Charlie stuff, though, seemed like too little spread over the course of one hour. I wish they just got to the "Locke hitting him in the face" thing earlier in the episode and did something else with Charlie the rest of the episode. Two baby-nappings in one episode too many.

I do get the impression that Locke is holding the heroin thing over Charlie, but still, he hid the Virgin Mary statues from Claire, so he may still mean it when he says he's trying to help him overcome his addiction.

If you ever saw her on "Guiding Light," you know she plays an excellent crazy lady. The eyes go wide and blank, the smile curls the cheeks ... I hope we get to see that again.

So how exactly did Hurley step on Libby's foot if she was at the back of the plane and he was sitting up front? Hrrrm. Anyway, it wasn't the greatest episode, but it had some cool moments (mostly Locke related). Line of the night was Ana Lucia's "are you hitting that?" Am I the only one thinking that Sawyer is going to end up getting killed off because the actor playing him should definitely be moving on to bigger and better things?
