Wow, what a great episode that was totally on this week. Smackdown is pretty much smoking any other wrestling TV show in existence right now and the funny thing is an old school wrestling show is actually building up in the ratings. How is that possible?
Benoit/Kennedy had their best match to date tonight. They totally out-did their match on 10/13 and last week. I'd be a lot higher on Kennedy if I saw him wrestle more matches like this. JBL really sold how he was busting out a lot of new stuff in order to put away Benoit like the missile dropkick and the Finlay Roll. That belly to back style back-breaker into that submission was really cool as well. It got about 17 minutes of air time.
London/Kendrick vs. Regal/Taylor for the tag titles was awesome. I hope this isn't the end of Regal and Taylor's push. But at the same time I'm glad they aren't breaking up London/Kendrick like they were teasing not long ago. After their huge win at Armageddon, this win cements them even more, a good follow-up to win a "wrestling" match against the guys they were feuding with for a while after winning a big multi-team ladder match.
Everything else was pretty good. I was especially impressed by Finlay/Hardy, would've been nice for some of these matches if they got to finish, like Finlay/Hardy.
Next week it's Benoit/Chavo AGAIN. Despite this storyline have virtually no progression, no heat or interest from the audience at all, and pretty much the same average, dull matches over and over they still continue to shove it down our throats. This is one of the problems with WWE. Move the fuck on already, this feud sucks and it's not going anywhere. I'm assuming that this time, Chavo will in fact win, with Vicky playing the false face role only to fool Benoit to help Chavo get the victory.
Other than that, totally awesome show this week. Smackdown is without hyperbole the best wrestling show on TV right now period. And JBL continues to do a great job on commentary, in comparison to ECW whose commentary is practically unlistenable. I loved it when JBL bluntly said to Cole, "Don't call me your partner. I'm not your partner, I'm not your friend. I'm just a guy calling the match." I love it, I can tell Cole misses Tazz and JBL just laying it into Cole as much as he can.
The best thing about this show and last weeks (Which i maintain was top notch) are the WRESTLING STORYLINES. Not soap opera fluff or jerry springer crap but damn good scenarios that follow wrestling logic. Specifically Kennedys involvement in Takers match. Kennedy knew not to cross the line of forcing a DQ but still managed to get himself the RR Title match. He walked that line all night, watching the other matches, knowing that if he'd interfered in the earlier matches Teddy long would've had to step in. Excellant stuff.
Even the stuff where SD usually falls off the track a bit was covered, namely Vito and Boogeyman. Boogey didn't show and JBLs commentary for Vito was so good that it made it more than bearable but bloody funny.
This should be the WWE Flagship as far as i'm concerned.
PS: Not to mention how good the matches are compared to the other shows

They can't screw up this Joey Mercury/Matt Hardy storyline, can they? It's so basic it has to work...old friends + legit injury + revenge...once Joey's healthy enough to come back, the singles feud culminates in MNM vs. Hardyz at WrestleMania I presume?
This is sort of off-topic, but at some point during the tag match I remembered Josh Matthews' olde Velocity commentary on London's early matches in the company and wondered...whatever happened to him? He isn't a backstage interviewer anymore, he was progressing nicely back in the Velocity 'salad days'...is he even working for WWE anymore?

The last time I saw him he was getting the taste slapped out of his mouth by Finlay at the Armageddon press conference.
