Tonight on RAW is HYMEN....

The most interesting thing that happened tonight on RAW was that I think it was the FIRST time on WWE television that it was actually acknowledged that Triple H lost at SummerSlam. All they've talked about is how Michaels' is crippled, HHH is a monster, blah blah, but tonight J.R. finally mentioned that Shawn won the damn match. Of course, nobody has brought up the fact that the new World Champ lost to a guy who hasn't wrestled in four years since that might (GASP!) make HHH look kind of bad.

There's a simple way to have a handicap match; have the one guy (Kane) try his hardest, but just end up having the Unamericans kick his ass. It's the tag champs, for crying out loud. They can even keep the finish; Storm accidentally levels Christian out of the ring with a superkick, and Kane gets in the quick chokeslam and pin. That way, WWE doesn't make its tag champs look like jobbers.

This is HHH so we know he'll win the pay per view match, but...wouldn't it be awesome if Van Dam won the world title thanks to interference from Shawn Michaels?

Now c'mon we shouldn't be bashing Jerry Lawler. We complain about him chirping "Puppies" all the time. A month or so ago, he went to all the trouble to learn the word "Cherry", which he chirped all through a Molly match. Now he's learned a THIRD new word : "Hymen", He only said "puppies" a couple of times, he was so busy reciting his new word. We should be pleased with his new found interest in expanding his vocabulary.

On a much more pressing topic : Is it just my imagination, or when HHH went back to heeldom, did they change his music (back?) to a different version. I'm thinking he'd been using somebody else's rendition, maybe since his face turn? And now maybe he's gone back to the old Motorhead version? Or am I just hallucinating?

I'm pretty sure he's been using the Motorhead tune since April or May last year, covering lotsa time as a heel, his quad injury, his return as a face, and his turn back to a heel. Probably a good thing considering the generic nu metal music treatment most guys are getting now.

Big Bad, when HHH came out last week on Raw JR mentioned that he lost the match, but that was during Trip's entrance so you might have missed it.

The fact that they actually let RVD hold that Raw title is a promising sign. It only took Jericho 18 months after he got to hold it to lift it for real
In my most optimistic thoughts I see WWE being smart and give the belt to RVD somewhere soon. With him beating HHH and Brock beating Taker we really chime in a new era.

Random Raw Thoughts:

Lots of sucking up to HHH this week.

I liked the segment between Bubba and HHH.

Most of the matches were eh.

You know this shifting brands is getting stale when Crash Holly jumps ship from Raw to Smackdown.

Main event was alright.

Overall, another weak RAW.

It makes sense to have a raw champ, and I see a possible unification match either at Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble, which will also be the first time Brock loses.

Crash jumping should increase the stock of the cruiser division, and maybe Bischoff will get the idea to reunite another set of brothers (da Dudleys).

RVD pinned HHH, hmmm gee I wonder what will happen when they meet for the belt.

To answer a lot of questions, I heard Jamal and Rosey havent wrestled a match yet because one of them has an injury, but he should be fine pretty soon, but they want to wait until he's 100%.

I agree you shouldnt take any heat away from tag champs by having them job to Kane, but how else are you going to get Kane over as a monster.

Dreamer figgin rules. I think he should still challenge people to hardcore matches, or continue using weapons. However, they need to get him in a fued, and I dont think the Big Show is the right man for that.

Feel free to fire Lawler at any time now. His constant Hyman chants were annoying enough, but the whole pillow fight fiasco was just a little much. I do not want to see or hear that man on my TV anymore.

It looked like Test almost messed up and lit the flag before Bradshaw could get out there. I just hope they are smart enough not to do that next week.

Overall a weak Raw, they need to establish some fueds and do it quickly to make me give a damn again

Good Raw, however there are 2 things i think ot make the "dissputed" tiotle better. They should have had brock(either against rock at SS , but he wouldnt have gone over clean this way) on his first defense last week in a rematch agaisnt rock or someone credable fought for the title and have the match end in controversy......doble pin or something. ala rick rude-dustin roades(wcw 93). It would mjake more sense to split the belts doiing it that way.

2nd i like the island boyz and when they called a brother leaving for SD i my htought was them. Since they are brothers or cousins i forget, with rakishi i assumed after the jeff beat down uncle e might get his. i want vrakishi to move to raw so he can meet up with these to. Phatu may not be the most interesting right now but pair him up wiht these two and we amy be on to something interesting. If they actually have a real wrestling match soon.

"Lawler was really off tonight between the hymen *jokes* and the pillow fight, ehg!"

Unfortunately, that was Lawler "on".

My sole consolation in this whole HHH mess was that it WASN'T Booker T that made the challenge that Flair ended up making. Why? I'm in no mood to see Booker job to HHH for the WCW title.

Even though the Unamericans segment sucked, I was relieved when Bradshaw came out.

I agree that Crash is a good addition to Smackdown even though this jumping ship gimmick is stale. I figure Crash will primarily be featured on Velocity with the other cruiserweights.

Also HHH-Flair was alright.

Very bad Raw. I thought last week was bad, but this was worse.

Proof that Bischoff has no real power, no way would he book Flair, 53, twice in one night. Triple H sat in the meeting with the bookers and booked the whole damn show. He booked the beginning to give himself a bogus title, the middle to beat his idol Ric Flair, the part where he takes away Jericho's IC match and puts himself in the main event. The end where he let RVD win a tag match where he can blame the loss on Y2J. RVD, to give fans a glimmer of hope at the end. Nobody else would be dumb enough to book this.

JR's purpose: To explain things to the people to stupid to figure out the angle/storyline from just watching the show

- We all know Bischoff doesn't book. He is tv-talent only.
- They gave the title to the biggest heel they had and who is the only proven remaining heel main eventer on the show. Alas, Jericho isn't that person right.
- Having Flair fight twice a night isn't a bad thing as long as he delivers is it?

I try. Every freakin' Monday night (that is, when the schedule permits, which hasn't been too often over the past month), I sit down and try my damndest to watch RAW with an open mind in the hope that "this will be the night they redeem themselves".

Just about every week, I walk away disappointed or more often than not, pissed off.

So, what do we get for our Labor Day edition?

--HHH gets his very own heavyweight title belt! Hey kids! Start banging the boss's offspring and you too can get all the backstage stroke in the world!! Aw, why so glum, Hunter? Don't have the Undisputed title? It's OK, we'll GIVE you your very own bright shiny belt to play with so you can lord it all over the RAW roster!! (Give the devil its due, at least he was willing to job to RVD.)

--We get to throw yet another handful of dirt on the grave of the Women's division as we're treated to a lingere pillow fight between Terri and Stacy, complete with mock "tar and feathers". (Props to Terri though on that nice drop kick.) And is it just me, or did the crowd seem dead for that one?

--Anyone think that Test will finally incinerate "Old Glory" next Monday night, two days prior to the anniversary of 9-11? It was bad enough they started that in MSG last week.

--Our main event? Ric Flair & RVD vs. Trips and.........
Chris Jericho.

HHH & Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho & HHH.

NOW DAMMIT, THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RAW more or less started going to hell for me on 6/24/02 and it's been traveling that road ever since. If we're going to play fast and loose with titles, as the past two weeks have indicated, then yank the Hardcore title outta the trash can, make it exclusive to Sunday Night Heat, and let the blood, guts, and gore begin!!

Or, barring that, let Dreamer take his steel chair and go bugf**k on Eric Bischoff! Now, THAT's entertaining!

Hey Yo...

I thought it was a great show, from top to bottom. I actually LIKED the pillow fight. I LIKED King's commentary. I thought the segments that were bad were at least entertaining and the matches were decent. My only complain was I would have liked to see RVD/Jericho instead of the tag, but the tag delivered. Triple H was the best guy on that show to put the belt on, in my opinion. And Crash jumping was CLASSIC (the guy has been one of the stand outs on Heat the last few months, I wish they'd do something with him, but don't see it).

Well, RAW was definitely better than last week's, though I'm still unsure about the separate belts thing. I did know that they couldn't keep the legendary gold belt away for long, so it's not so bad. HHH/Flair REEKED of old school, especially for those of us who were raised on the Horsemen, like me and my brother were. I wouldn't have been surprised if it went back and forth for a whole hour. I did mark during HHH's Flair impressions too, simply because around Backlash they keep telling us that Hogan was someone HHH looked up to like a mentor (which is crap because HHH admitted Hogan was just okay), but it's so obvious he's been raised on Flair, just by looking at him. It was great seeing that, and everything else on the show kinda of went in one eye and out the other, but the main event was pretty good though, and it reaffirmed in me that Flair was the original Iron Man in the NWA, and HHH is still capable of wrestling twice in one night (he used to do that a few times in 2000). So, a good RAW, definitely better than last week's show and WAY better than the one fron exactly a year ago (Steph: "A Brand new.....TRUCK!"). It's getting kind of thin there, Eric, and I hope you got a killer plan..

Agreed that Triple H is the only true main eventer left standing on Raw, so if you are going to resurrect a title and give it away to someone, he is the best choice.

I just have a problem with the logic behind this whole thing. It wasn't explained exactly what the Trips new title is. WCW Title, World Title, Raw Title, etc. I also am not satisfied with the explanation as to why Brock deserves to be stripped of his title, when he just beat the Rock in a fair match. I don't think Brocks character would be a cowardly sell-out. Why should he be scared of Triple H and selling out to Smackdown? Why can't Eric spend more money to get Brock back? Why can't Brock "Lazy-Boy" Lesner work more than once a week?

Smackdown had a great #1 contender survival tournament.
Comparing this to the last Smackdown is like night and day.

Agreed. I'm becoming very Spock-like about the whole WWE at the moment; certain match combinations bug me much more than gaping logic holes ever do. People like Jericho and Trips teaming up smacks of laziness by the writers, not bothering to look at backstories and write something more believable. But they seem determined to exhaust all surrent combinations of main eventers before shaking it up a little/ We're gonna have these logic-bending problems for a while, I guess.

Hey Yo...

Oldschoolhero love the picture, I thought it was Lebowski, read the qoute and laughed my ass off.

Onto more pressing matters, Brock's winning the title is disputed now because he refuses to defend it on RAW. Hence the big dispute. Stephanie pays him more to be exclusive, hence the "La-Z-Boy attitude.

I disagree about the laziness of the writers. Since when do heels who hate faces remember anything about the past? I didn't have a problem with it. I think Trips and Jericho both complained about it at some point, and also they worked better than the two man power trip ever did. Also, the way I took it, the WCW is the RAW brand world title. If Smackdown can be as good as last week, this has been a great week of wrestling, for me.

The (formerly) Undisputed title shouldn't be defended on RAW or Smackdown anyway. It should only be defended at PPVs.
