I watched only one match, the last match. I have no idea where they're going with this, but the biggest part of me wishes Face Triple H leading an NXT faction or something.

I dunno though, and don't care. Owens deserves the belt, and there's so many directions this can go in now.

Jericho vs Owens?
Owens vs Rollins?
Triple H vs ???

I'll say one thing; I'm excited to watch RAW next week, so they succeeded in that.

Reigns was the star of that match.

Owens winning is pretty awesome, but you know it would have been much more memorable if he fought through Reigns and Rollins on his own. You could still do whatever Triple H storyline crap next week. Macho Man didn't need Hogan posing in the background when he won his first title either. Trips and Steph just have to get their fingerprints all over the next hot new thing about to launch instead of just launching it.

That all being said congratulations Kevin Owens. You weren't supposed to get this far and you've been the company workhorse since you arrived. I am happy for Owens, I just wish McMahons/Helmsley stopped making the moments about themselves.

The crowd chanting "You deserve it!" was just utterly wonderful. SO HAPPY for KO tonight, my favorite is the champ!!!

Ehh, I don't know about all that. He let Owens have plenty of the spotlight at the end when he just left. No proud father watching on, slow clapping moment. I understand that the way the win went down makes Owens look "weak" (I guess?) but that's kinda Owens' thing; intelligent opportunism. I dug everything about it. And as said, I'm genuinely excited for Raw next week to see where this goes.

Most weeks we don't get a post about RAW until the next day... this week, we have two within 30 minutes. If nothing else, this certainly got people talking.

Grats to Owens for the title win, but I definitely would have preferred he do it on his own instead of a semiretired wrestler interfering and handing the belt to him. I wonder who his first feud will be with, since you know Rollins will want revenge on Trips, and Reigns has unfinished business with Rusev.

I will give them this, I hadn't expected HHH to interfere, let alone that he'd turn on Rollins after having him as a minion for so long. So they definitely surprised me, which in our current environment is difficult to pull off.

You made the right decision coming in when you did. The rest of the show was utter crap. Two squash matches and the best they could come up with for Sami Zayn was a Jinder Mahal match. The New Day vs Anderson/Gallows feud is the worst thing they've done with for the New Day and now they are involving Dana Brooke too? Another Sheamus/Cesaro match and another Darren/Titus match. Until the main event that was the worst show of the year.

I just hope the new Owens-Hunter relationship doesn't break up Owens-Jericho. I want to see the three of them together. Will Hunter convince KO to wear a suit? Can Jericho get Hunter to wear a scarf? I kind of hope Jericho will try to convince KO not to trust Hunter, but not in a turning face way, they should all still be heels.

I thought the beginning of the show with all four main event contenders in the ring sitting in chairs jawing at each other was pretty good.

I liked that part quite a bit, Owens was great on the mic and Cass had some good lines as well. Jericho v Neville wasn't half bad either, even if Neville could have stood to go over. And Bagley's interactions with New Day were fun, tho the mixed tag match itself was pretty slapdash n thrown together. As for Cesaro, he's doing the best he can with Shaemus... sadly, in the end, he's still in there with Shaemus.

The squashes were a novelty at first, but now they're just boring. Especially when it's the same two wrestlers doing all the squashing.

So much of it was crap, but there were a few high spots among the filler.

At least I can play name-that-indie-worker. Saw Delilah Doom a few weeks ago.

Sleepwalked through most of the show, but ecstatic that Owens won. Never thought I'd be so glad to see Triple H.

All but ignored the main promo segments.

Wasn't Hogan a large part of the win, hitting DiBiase (?) with a chair?

Anyways, great for Owens. I'm sure he's going to talk a lot about this--then back it up.
As for where they go with the story, I'm interested.
A lot of people here have been wanting a Rollins face run. I personally like him more as a heel but we'll see.
Does Reigns go back to Rusev and Seth chases Owens?

It was said that Rollins & Reigns were supposed to be out of the title picture for a while. So maybe this was a last minute (week long) scramble to rewrite stories and make it all coherent.
I do like the idea that HHH is sort of leading an NXT revolution, putting HIS boys in power.

Who would have called Owens being Champion a month ago? It is fantastic seeing him win despite the Hinterference which hopefully will all make sense next week. It isn't often that you are left wondering 'why did that happen and what happens next week' so this is a great thing.

The rest of the show was alright here and there. The start was good and Cass didn't seem completely out of place and had a few good lines. He did well in the match as well with some of his spots looking good. Reigns was good in the match but it is going to take a long time for people to like him again, even as much as before when he wasn't that liked!

Jericho/Neville was good, Steph was annoying, Heyman needs to do something different, Fuji tribute was well done and you never see a mask just get ripped off so quickly as Strowman did.

HHHogan knows what people really want.

I also like the idea that Steph and Trips won't talk about what went down until next Monday.

The last match was great... then I started laughing when I saw HHH. I mean... they just can't help themselves.

And as fans, we're not going to care because OMG KEVIN OWENS!!!!! This reminds me a lot of the RAW after brand split, where everyone praised it mainly because Sasha Banks and Finn Balor won. It's great that a guy that has toiled for so long go a well deserved win and whatnot, but it glosses over the fact that the 'heel' authority figure just helped another 'heel' beat 2 other 'heels' to win a title and the result was the crowd chanting "You Deserve It!". It makes for a great moment, but highlights muddled storytelling. The WWE has done nothing but train the fans that the only thing that matters is HHH and this just puts the stamp on it.

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

I think, in the end people won't remember how Owens won, just that Owens won. It's a real shame that the Draft has isolated Ambrose, because they finally set up the SHIELD reunion that everybody wants.

There apperently was a spoiler on Time Warner's episode guide for next week's Raw that Seth beat Owens for the title. Possible audible last night or rhe guy putting the info out was screwing with people.

Happy for Owens. Big Cass lookef great and was the true pure face of the match til Owens won. If course HHH had to be involved. Now, we get Foley being tricked into getting fired or quiting while HHH and Steph send Brock to kill Shane.

You have to be dead inside not to love Bayley and the NewDay. My four old daughter was in heaven. She was also trash talking The Club. Which is fine, becaude they nore the shit out of me.

"Not like this!" - announcers, me

:-/

Well. Owens as beltman and Rollins as babyface is where we should've been a long time ago -- Rollins in the spring, KO all the way back to the last vacancy final four. So in the macro, great news. There is a real endless cycle of misery to HHH making people -- 5 different people, including himself! -- the new bad corporate champ. Good gravy. Rollins turfed out as his proverbial "bitch" "boy" just like Orton, and now Owens can now have his own string of undeserving fluke PPV wins. Then next year HHH can turf Owens and hand the title to, like, Samoa Joe.

Of all the "you deserve it" people's champs for dorks and dweebazoids, be it Jericho or Eddie or Christopher Benoit or Punk or Christian or Ziggler or Bryan or Ambrose, this is probably the least delighted I've ever been for one of these, maybe short of Rey getting belted in the wake of Eddie's, well, wake. And that's sad since gold watch title wins are close to exclusively fueling my fandom at this point. OTOH. Owens and Ambrose and soon to be Styles are the championship havers. So on some level I'll take what I can get.

Jericho going over Neville clean seems intended to keep him in the title match plans. It'd be a shame if he had to turn back so soon after triumphantly re-re-re-re-reinventing himself as "stupid idio-It" era Jericho just when he'd been written off for good. Cesaro winning the lump summit series and Zayn's win over Owens in their final match ever also make them good disposable PPV challengers but IDK, they're no 'Big' Cass.

I think Jericho's hoping for a LayCool style sharing of the title.

It actually really irked me that Steph said twice "We are crowing the FIRST EVER Universal Champion!" Didn't they do that 8 days ago, but were having this match thanks to Rollins still using powerbombs in inappropriate places?

But that statement in itself is the problem with WWE programming. The "how" used to matter and used to define the character and make them more 'fleshed out'. Steve Austin had to defeat Vince and The Corporation. Hogan had to overcome Communism and a plethora of 'foreign threats'. Ricky Steamboat overcame a career ending injury from Randy Savage to reclaim his title in one of the greatest matches ever. Looking back at all the great storylines in WWF history, the HOW mattered a lot. The HOW in this case puts a lot on a guy who wrestles once a year and is known for his 20 minute promos. And if people truly won't remember, then why even bother with the show? Just pick guys you really like and hand them the belt.
