| #1 Posted on 16.2.13 1421.00 | Instant Rating: 9.11 | I'll (happily) leave it to JALman to recap, but this is making me crazy. (This is intrinsically a nerdy theme, right?) I don't see where Orange's sudoku solution was wrong. I don't do sudoku, so maybe my eye just isn't accustomed -- clearly I'm just not seeing the fault. In the show, they even highlighted what was wrong in that solution, but I'm just not getting it. For those not OCD enough to pause their DVRs to study the problem, here is an article including a transcription (examiner.com), & offers "The flaw was actually in the number four in the lower right." I'm not seeing it. Help?| Promote this thread! | | JALman

| #2 Posted on 16.2.13 1842.09 | emma, I don't get it either. I checked out the sudoku grid a few times. I think that the graphic may have been the intended solution but the erroneous slots highlighted. I shrug and move on.
This week, Blextrophy (Blue) wins this Nerd-War: a hybrid of Rubik's cube and sudoku. Both teams assemble a life-size cube then must solve a sudoku puzzle with some of the numbers placed on parts of the cube.
It's a non-standard sudoku grid they use. [Blextrophy's solution] Part of the reason I don't go very far in discussing the games in my recaps is that KOTN doesn't have enough viewership for me to invest in super-deep analysis of the games (1.32 million, 0.6 18-49 according to TVByTheNumbers, behind other 10pm reality shows from MTV, History, and TruTV).
I don't think this variation of sudoku will be all the rage.
Joshua sits out for the Servants. Tsk, tsk. Though he wasn't trying to stand out, his own team votes him to the Nerd-Off anyway.
Ivan's the choice of Blextrophy. Joshua goes against Ivan in a game of Memory/Concentration with the added challenge of going through a gauntlet of flung tennis balls and a sumo wrestler. Ivan triumphs 7-6.
Joshua's banished from Nerdvana.
It's hard to tell who did the "worst" here. Moogega is good at sudoku, but the demands are different with two teammates flaking her and adding stress.
I prefer catching whatever drama goes down. Highlights are Ivan's awkward acts of intimidation to Virgil and Genevieve and Danielle and Moogega having fun after a few drinks. Danielle and Moogega stripping was a suggestion but that didn't happen. Danielle spanks Moogega's butt with a fake sword.
Let's those referrals roll!
As the teams are, Blextrophy seems more erratic individually.
Listen to my interview with Danielle I did last week as she discusses her tensions with Joshua.

| #3 Posted on 16.2.13 2358.43 | Instant Rating: 9.11 | Ah, got it. "No numbers may be repeated in any diagonal." I was only looking at the 3 major rows, 3 major columns, & 5 boxes. I needed to go back further & review the rules of this version: they also exclude redundancy in the 6, 5 & 4 -square diagonals. So, in the proposed solution, the 4 in green lower left is redundant with the 4 in red lower left.
(I do have to say: A bit of OCD has overall served me very well in my professional life. Social life ... maybe not so much. :-) Yeah, nerd.)

| #4 Posted on 17.2.13 0000.55 | Instant Rating: 9.43 | I was bored enough to try to figure this out and believe it may just be television magic (as in, Facebook agrees with you, emma, and now there are people ... get this ... who think it may have been artificial drama injected into a reality television show by the television people and perhaps they shouldn't ever trust anyone!)
EDIT: Or what you said, which is certainly a non-standard rule for this non-standard sudoku. ;-)

I found out where I have seen Danielle before, she played in PSN's "The Tester."

Either Ivan and Joshua are true gentlemen, or they have girlfriends back home. All that was needed was a little bit of encouragement from the boys that never came.
Danielle and Moogega were defiitely giving off a strong "Hellooooo guys, look over here, were really drunk" vibe.
